Roll Bars & Bumpers

Pictured below is a Scout II that went through a $20,000 build. Thankfully the owner put the real money into building a proper roll cage. About 3 months after the build was completed, he lent the truck to a friend who took it out onto the freeway. The inexperienced driver hit a groove in the roadway at 60 MPH and the Scout flipped and slid for several hundred feet. There was a full investigation and it was determined that the driver would have died if there was no roll cage. He was lucky and walked away from the accident. As a side note, raising the center of gravity increases the chances of rollover. Please consider the lives of loved ones and innocent by-standers when giving your truck the "Macho" lift. This accident happened a few years ago, but I was lucky to get these pictures before the Truck is finally parted out. CLICK on EACH PICTURE to get a full view of the damage~!

Pictured below is a pair of Scout II’s that were used in the movie “Dreamcatcher” (2003) written by Stephen King and featuring Morgan Freeman. Although this movie is “set” in Maine, USA, it was actually filmed in British Columbia, Canada. I believe 5 Scouts were used. One was taken back to California to be placed in a museum. The remaining Scouts are still located in B.C. and the pictures below show the damage they sustained to make the film. One Scout had a special rack installed on the roof for the movie camera. A couple of the Scouts had protective roll cages built to protect the actors. All of the Scouts were painted the same colour (faded red body with white top) and a russet interior. Guess which of the two Scouts below has a roll cage? Both were rolled~! Interesting to note that the bodies were sprayed to simulate “dirt” with a concrete looking wash. This can still be seen on the bodies. Want to own a piece of history? Main point here...is the roll cage! CLICK on EACH PICTURE~!
